A Man with a Guitar

About Our Founder

Before starting Priddy Music Academy based in Millersville, Maryland, Lee Priddy was a determined kid learning guitar in 1984. Needless to say, he learned and excelled. He started teaching in 1990, and from sheer reputation, he rose to teaching 83 private students per week. In 2000, he opened Priddy Guitar Academy and began coaching rock bands as well.

Schools Attended

Lee has studied with a handful of teachers, including Jimmy Cunnigham (U.S. Navy Musician) and Sheryl Bailey (Berklee Instructor, Award Winner, and Guitar Player Magazine & I-Tunes Artist). He attended the following schools:

The Recording Artist

His recording credits include several side projects and a self-produced album entitled, "Colors of Rhythm" by the Melons. Currently, he is working on a solo project he hopes to complete this year. However, the school and his students remain his top priority.

The Teacher

Whether it's performing with a band, playing a solo gig, teaching, or just strumming by the campfire, Lee's easy-going mannerisms and dedication to his craft have inspired countless students to realize their own musical potential, goals, and dreams. Apart from the Priddy Music Academy, he is also the guitar instructor at Indian Creek School in Crownsville, Maryland, where he conducts afterschool music programs. Lee also serves as a clinician in guitar workshops. He is credited with helping several students get accepted to music programs at Berklee, Towson, UMBC, and Peabody Conservatory.

Anthony Setola

Anthony Setola
Bass Guitar

Anthony attended Bass Institute of Technology in California and has worked alongside many heavy weights in the industry performing and recording. His playing and dedication to teaching is unparalleled. Anthony is fluent in all styles and plays each one like it is his specialty. In addition to performing and teaching, he produces music and has 2 albums released on ITunes, "Interstellar Appeal" and "Radiate" Here is a review excerpt below from Bass Player Magazine.

Although bassist Anthony Setola hails from Baltimore, it's obvious he has an affinity for the funk majesty of the Bay Area's finest. Interstellar Appeal opens with a very funky T.O.P styled "Oakland and Back" followed by a Sly & the Family Stone cover of "If You Want Me To Stay". Most surprising about this release is just how funky, well produced and good this album sounds considering it is almost entirely drum programming and synth parts (with exception to the bass playing (of course) and a few guest artists).

The drum programming is pretty incredible here, they can be very creative and organic sounding. After the two opening covers, the rest is all Anthony and I'm as equally impressed by his musicality and bass playing as I am with the quality of tones and sounds he's captured. His bass tone is fat, round and articulate and, like I said, it's hard to tell that the rest is programmed.

While the bass is very prominent and will surely perk the ears of lovers of the low-end, it is far more musical than most bass-led debuts. The writing is mature and song oriented, the playing is pocket heavy and as funky as you want to be! Think Rocco Prestia hangin' with Meshell Ndegeocello and dig it.

George Cowan

George Cowan

I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old(1994). I began taking lessons at local music stores and studied with teachers such as John Smith and Lee Priddy! Soon after, a few friends and I formed our first band. We covered 90's rock as well as wrote original music under a few different names. Ten years later I graduated from AACC with a few music credits, where I studied guitar with Rob Levit. I then applied to study music full time at UMBC. There I studied composition under Stewart S. Smith and Linda Dusman. I took private lessons with Rick Hannah and Tom Lagana, played with the jazz ensemble under the direction of Lafayette Gilchrist and Matt Beltzer. I graduated from UMBC in 2007 with a BA in music. A few years before that (2005), I took a job at Music and Arts Center and Bills Music House as a private music instructor. I have recently been performing with a few bands in the Baltimore/Annapolis area; True Urban Rhythm Notion or the TURN (not currently performing), GoGo Mouth (a pop/top 40 cover band), and Cooper Watts and Cowan or CWC (blues and classic rock). I have been teaching at Priddy Music Academy since 2012

Jennifer Marie

Jennifer Marie
Vocal Performance

Jennifer Marie has a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Towson University, where she studied opera and performed as a coloratura mezzo soprano. She was also the first voice student in their jazz program, studying under the late Ruby Glover and performing with jazz ensembles, including the big band. It was during her time at Towson that she began her teaching career at Musician's Institute of Baltimore.

Jennifer began working as a mezzo soprano soloist in 1999, while still a student at Towson. At one time she was the youngest member of the Baltimore Symphony Chorus and also performed with the Baltimore Concert Artists and the Lyric Opera Company. She has recorded both classical and musical theatre as a soloist and ensemble member and has also done vocal arranging as a studio musician.

While she considers herself a vocalist, Jennifer has also studied piano and guitar. Besides teaching voice lessons in every genre, she can be found teaching piano lessons, coaching guitar students, working with local bands and vocalists as a vocal coach, and coaching professionals in public speaking. She also currently teaches early childhood music at a non-profit music outreach program.

Outside of building her reputation in Anne Arundel County as a multi-faceted voice teacher and vocal coach, Jennifer is also the devoted mother of two small children and volunteers as the Training Coordinator for American Bulldog Rescue.
